JVFloat.js takes inline labels and instead of fading them to zero when the user focuses the field and starts typing, the plugin simply slides them above the input field.
This way the label is still visible, but doesn't occupy too much space either.
The plugin is Zepto.js-compatible as well.
A demo is included with the download package.
An Objective-C port is also available.
